About me

Welcome to Emma Smail Coaching.

My name is Emma and my passion in life is coaching.  I experienced a positive shift in life when I completed my Advanced Certificate in Coaching Practice in 2017.  I began working with clients straight away and have coached a large number of people on a wide range of topics.   I currently offer a Coaching Service within a University setting to staff and students.

I have experienced first-hand the powerful impact of coaching in providing support and instilling confidence in an individual to achieve their personal and/or career goals.  As your coach I will give my understanding, commitment, energy and skills to help you move along on your journey to achieving the goals you set yourself.  I offer the opportunity to reflect and freely discuss matters in a confidential and non-judgemental setting. I have excellent listening skills and the ability to encourage you to consider different perspectives. I see the positive changes coaching can bring about and I would love to speak with you and support you to achieve the things you want in life.  I will work collaboratively with you to set goals and identify creative ways to work towards them.  My favourite aspect of coaching is the potential to go on a journey with you where you may flourish with confidence and develop strong self belief.

Coaching can be particularly beneficial for people going through a change or transition in life.  Examples of situations include:

  • returning to work after a break
  • adjusting to life beyond lockdown
  • taking a career break
  • considering a life change
  • children leaving home
  • a relationship breakdown
  • leaving education or returning to education
  • people struggling to manage stress or finding a good balance in life.
  • people experiencing low confidence or feeling a bit 'lost'.
  • this is not an exhaustive list so please do get in touch.

If you think coaching might be for you please email me to book a Free Discovery Call.   I look forward to meeting you.

When I'm not coaching I enjoy spending time with friends and family,  cycling, sunshine, laughter, dog walks and playing a few tunes on the fiddle.

What do my clients say?

When Emma started coaching me, I was in a bit of a career rut – I was running into limitations in my current job, and I knew that it was either time to try and move up internally, or move on and move out. The confidence and the tools Emma gave me helped me showcase the work I was doing in the job I was doing in such a way that I could show my boss that I was capable of making the step up to a role that I really wanted.

Two promotions later, I still look back on that first leap as the most important one in my career, as it gave me the platform and opportunity to get to a place where I now have the marketable skills that I could parlay into a proper fulfilling career. I’m very grateful to Emma for taking the time to coach me through a really pivotal part of my life – it couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Plus, she was professional enough to work with me before and after the promotion at the same time!
