About me

'Seek out your positives, you have what it takes', Paul Wilson

Hello, I am Dorothy, a highly skilled and experienced EMCC accredited coach and human resource development consultant who enjoys working with individuals at all levels of organisations and outside from all backgrounds, professions and sectors. I offer 1:1 coaching in personal development, career progression and leadership development.

My coaching enables others to believe in themselves and their strengths more, in order to achieve what they want in their careers, job roles and work life. A favourite point of reference for me is from Tim Galleway's argument that says, 'A tennis player first confronts the Inner Game when they discover that there is an opponent inside their head more formidable than the one across the net'.

My typical clients include:

  • Rising stars at all levels of organisations and sectors who are trying to crack the ceiling through to the next stages in their careers.
  • Team leaders, managers and other programme leads at the forefront of service delivery in the NHS and social care for example.
  • Professionals from all sectors who are returning to work after a career break.
  • Graduates preparing to enter the job market.
  • Those seeking coaching in any area of their career or seeking employment.

I coach widely in all sectors for example, in the NHS via the London Leadership Academy, finance, publishing, retail, sales and marketing, education, social care, the charities sector and housing. My personal coaching style continuously draws widely from all coaching psychology approaches including gestalt and emotional intelligence for example, but central to the integration is applied positive psychology. I also tailor-make my approach to suit an individual client's needs.

My background experience includes human resource development for more than 25 years, progressing to senior management in the NHS, having started as a graduate trainee in the retail sector. It also includes service redesign and commissioning healthcare services in NHS clinical commissioning groups, having previously worked in strategic health authorities across multi–organisations leading complex change programmes. I have also worked at a national level as a change consultant, facilitating teams on capacity and capability to improve access to healthcare services across local health and social care economies.

Examples of recent testimonials:

Dina – Senior Editor, Publishing Sector 2019

Finding Dorothy Tande was a stroke of luck that kicked off my career in the right direction again. She intuitively applied her professional learning and experience to my personality and needs, customising a programme that resonated with me. I was inspired and reawakened to think differently and usefully about my purpose and work according to a co-owned plan for results. I recommend Dorothy without reservation. She’s well versed in the field of coaching, drawing on great sources and insights and working to the client’s strengths — designing the right road map rather than working off a rigid methodology as some coaches do.

Lisa – Senior Programme Lead, NHS, 2019

Working with Dorothy was a pleasure. It felt like she understood me from the first session, was always ready for my session with her and made me feel immediately at ease. She is extremely calm and calming. I recall sitting down for each session and sighing with relief, welcoming an hour to be heard and gently challenged. One of Dorothy's skills is her ability to really hear what you are saying and repeat it back to you, and she was not afraid to stop me mid flow to check in that what she was hearing what in fact what I was saying - a useful technique for us both. I also felt like Dorothy cared about my journey and it was a joy to journey those 6 sessions of coaching with her at my side.

Gloria – Finance and HR, 2019

I had a fantastic experience working with Dorothy, I know, she highly contributed in me getting interviews and a job. When I started the programme I had 0 confidence in my interviews. She worked with me, encouraged me and boosted my confidence. She worked with me in my CV and Cover letter. It was for 6/7 sessions but was all worth it. I learnt so much from her and would recommend her to anyone looking for a career coach. The best decision I made was to join the programme and seek help. I now work for a Public Limited Company and doing what I love.
