Debra Carey - Caring Coaching
At an age when most people are considering retirement, I'm using my years of experience to offer support in three key areas :
- Relationships - romantic or sexual, with friends or family, or in your business life
- Bereavement or serious/long-term illness, empty-nest
- Cross-border issues
Relationships are central to our lives, even the absence of them can generate hugely powerful emotions. Relationship problems can come in all shapes and sizes and the solutions can be as varied - everything from an exercise to gain new perspective by putting yourself into someone else's shoes, to identifying causes of anxiety or bolstering a lack in self-worth can all provide resolution. Don't allow embarrassment to prevent you from making all your relationships better. I may be a grandmother, but I am truly unshockable, totally non-judgemental, and have the capacity to make those awkward conversations feel comfortable and natural. Trust me, I won't let you down.
Bereavement and serious/long-term illness bring unsought-for changes. Any externally imposed change is the most difficult to accept, and so to work with, as I know from personal experience. Like grief, the process has a number of steps which need to be followed. My primary purpose is to help you identify what change has to be effected immediately and to support you in making it. Thereafter, I'll provide you with a safe space in which to consider potential options, until you find your new normal.
Home is a huge part of personal identity, so moving can require much adjustment - emotionally as well as practically. When that move involves the crossing of borders with new cultural norms to learn and adapt to, home may not feel quite so homely. Having felt like a fish out of water - culturally - for much of my life, this is a situation I can both empathise with and provide a steadying hand, whilst the necessary adjustments are made.
I don't follow only one life coaching style, believing that my clients are best served by being treated as individuals. Instead, I draw on elements of psychology, neuroscience, self-development and NLP, then combine these with life experience and common sense. There are multiple solutions available, picking the combination that is best suited to you is where I come in.
Remember, change is just like a bridge ... it gets you where you need to go.
But if change is difficult for you - whatever form it takes - let me offer you support and structure to get you across the bridge from your old life to your new one.

A selection of Testimonials
Relationship issues ...
Deb has many qualities including intelligence, empathy, tolerance, perception and patience. She also seems unshockable! Her analytical nature really helped me to explore my options."
"In a time of crisis, it was nice to have someone so non-judgemental to speak to."
Life-balance issues ...
"Thank you for always listening . I am standing up for myself and taking back my free time. I know I will always stay too busy as that is just my nature, but I will be busy doing things I want to do. I am so looking forward to next year!"
De-cluttering - removing blocks & addressing practical issues ...
"Debs Carey responded to my call for help on decluttering issues which were blocking me from setting up and working from an art studio at home. She gave me an NLP anchor to use when I felt my motivation flagging, and carried out a home visit to advise on practical steps, with some very useful suggestions, which I have implemented. She has been on hand since with invaluable guidance and replies to my questions on further points which have come up.
