About me

I help you rediscover your creative power, deliver stretching projects or simply show up professionally by deep explorations into the psychological and emotional (and physical, in the case of chronic illness) blocks holding you back.

As a successful writer, I've tackled many of these head on myself, and I have years of experience mentoring individuals to achieve their potential. I have enhanced these skills by taking an accredited course in transformational coaching with Animas and working within a coaching framework.

Let me describe one of my client’s stories.

A client came to me to gain the confidence to deliver a new programme that may have been seen my some in the field as too innovative and troubling. Through our work together, we explored her narratives and origins of her self-criticism and self-doubt, discomfort about her cultural and professional isolation, how to develop working habits that suited her, and how to be her authentic self in their work while also being able to handle the surface stuff of marketing, networking and self-promotion. Along the way, we talked about the importance of the project to the world and the difference it could make.

At the end of our work together, the client felt confident enough to pursue this work while being mindful to notice doubt and difficulty and how that noticing was part of the creative process. She left coaching armed with new purpose, confidence and a plan of action to get where she wanted to be.

Coaching with me might be for you if, for example:

~ You want to achieve more in your work or creative life but somehow don't feel motivated or confident.

~ You can't seem to manage your time to do the things you want.

~ You feel seized up by your perfectionism or feel like an impostor.

~ You have real practical barriers to being more creative and fulfilled (childcare, chronic illness, work commitments) and want a better of juggling, pacing or working with boundaries between what you want and other's demands.

~ You are ready to commit to change.

My coaching both a reflective space to work out what is happening and a realistic discussion of how to achieve what you want within the practical constraints you have.

I offer a free one-hour taster session to try some coaching and see if it may work for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Transformational Coaching from Animas (accredited by the International Coaching Federation/ICF), a Diploma in Counselling Skills and a Certificate in Positive Psychology. I'm working towards ACC ICF accreditation.

Here's a bit about my professional story. After 11 years of studying and 15 years of fulfilling (yet not quite me) work as an academic, where I built academic programmes, published research and mentored under-represented students to achieve career success, I discovered my vocation in writing.

Building on my academic reputation, I became a successful journalist and writer, working across commercial and magazine journalism, writing about urbanism, sustainability, technology and design. As a side interest, I’m an urban and rural psychogeographer. I have, along the way, mentored people to deliver thought leadership in their chosen field.

Other areas of coaching I deal with

Coaching creatives/writers and thought leaders and enhancing creativity, confidence and productivity.
