Do you find yourself caught on the rollercoaster of life, running from one thing to the next, but never being quite of top of it all? You feel like you have a million and one plates spinning and if the wind blew it could all come crashing down. And that would be another job to add to the already endless, relentless things that have to be done TODAY… and REPEAT.
It's like a supercharged edition of Groundhog Day.
You feel EXHAUSTED.
You’re ANGRY that no-one has acknowledged what you have managed to accomplish.
You feel GUILTY that you’re not doing as good a job as you would like.
When life gets like this the obvious solution is to find a way to fit more into the day. To learn to successfully spin more plates. As the saying goes “If you want something done, ask a busy person to do it.” Right?
Doing more is NOT the solution.
Prioritising is. Having clear boundaries is. Looking after yourself is.
How do I know this? Because it was me.
I wanted it all. The big job title. A Super Mum award.
I allowed work to seep into my time at home.
I allowed my phone to interrupt my life and justified immediate responses as a mark of my efficiency.
I justified losing my temper as a side effect of being so busy.
I excused my constant running around as the normality of being a parent.
I put the needs of other’s before mine as that was what I was supposed to do.
And then the world changed. We entered a global pandemic and I entered a phase of self-reflection.
I realised that I had a choice. I took a big step back to look at what made me happy and what I wanted to achieve. I looked back at the crazy daily rhythm and vowed that it would never be the same. I understood that I needed to look after myself so that I could be the best version of me for those I care about. I started to make changes.
Today, I have changed my career and am excited to see what each day will bring. I have regular me-moments that sustain me and bring me joy. My family thank me for being “the best” and I accept their compliment with grace.
This is what I help women do.
I help them work out what is important to them. I help them prioritise and establish clear boundaries. I help them develop the confidence to achieve their dreams; to prove that they are unstoppable. And most importantly I help them recognise, and find a way, to put themselves first so they can be the best version of themselves.
