About me

I offer help and encouragement so that you can create change in your life. I can also help you to build inner resources to call upon when the going gets tough.

Why choose me as your coach?

I am a compassionate, good-humoured, heart-centred coach and I love to work with people who:

  • feel stuck and don’t know what to do next
  • need some accountability, motivation and support to make changes
  • want to create goals to move towards what matters to them
  • want to gain skills to help increase self-confidence at home and at work
  • want to reduce feelings of overwhelm or get support when feeling on the edge of burnout
  • feel ready to make a change but need a little extra support to get started

In our coaching sessions, I am always on your side and I will encourage you to view yourself and your challenges with curiosity and self-compassion so you can make the most of your personal and professional potential.

I know it's not always easy to work through big decisions or life issues with friends, family or colleagues and that's where coaching can be hugely beneficial.

With me as your coach, you will find a supportive and nurturing space to work on your personal development and gain motivation and encouragement to explore your goals.

Long term condition support

Alongside life coaching, I also offer coaching support to people with long term health diagnoses including autoimmune conditions.

Many of the people I work with who live with long term conditions, express feelings of grief, anger, shame, isolation, uncertainty and helplessness. These feelings can make people feel stuck and that they are unable to live their lives in a meaningful way.

I support my clients to acknowledge those feelings and move with them to a place of acceptance and greater peace. Through coaching, we will get to know who you are today as someone who lives with a condition but whose life is about much more than that.

I help people with long term conditions to:

  • Make recovery plans and set health and lifestyle goals
  • Feel more empowered and aware of the choices they have
  • Feel supported about returning to work after a period of absence
  • Cultivate a greater feeling of acceptance towards their health
  • Learn resilience skills and gain psychological tools to help when the going gets tough.

Whether you want to create meaningful change in your life or learn how to better navigate life's ups and downs, get in touch to arrange an exploratory chat about how we can work together.

I look forward to working with you!

Other areas of coaching I deal with

ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Training)

ACT is an extensively researched and effective form of behavioural therapy that has been adapted for use in a coaching context. I often use it, where appropriate, with my coaching clients.

ACT helps people to create rich and meaningful lives while, at the same time, living with the difficulties, pain and stress that are a fact of our daily lives.

When we practise ACT together, we use tools and exercises to help you to increase your psychological flexibility - and resilience. These tools support you to make choices based on the things that truly matter to you and with ACT, we learn how to process our feelings, fears, thoughts and limiting beliefs.

When we work with ACT, we start from the point that a life without difficulty, sadness and pain does not exist. Instead of trying to answer questions like: 'How can I stop feeling these things that make my life difficult?', we seek to discover how you deal with these things when they occur. Do you acknowledge and work with these parts of your life, or do you try to change them and fight against them?

We look at what matters to you, then, over subsequent coaching sessions, we work to identify the internal and external factors that get in the way of doing what matters. Once we've done this, we learn new ways to deal with them.

In our coaching sessions, we use metaphors and exercises to practice new ways of thinking and doing. We get to the heart of what matters and help you to find your path.

Additional information

Each session costs £50 and this includes any worksheets, recordings or other information you may be sent after our time together. Coaching sessions last around 60 minutes and take place via Zoom or by telephone.

I usually suggest that you commit to a minimum of three sessions so that you can make the most of the coaching process. Depending on your situation, some clients prefer to have weekly sessions, while others have sessions on a fortnightly or monthly basis. We can discuss this when we meet.

Testimonials
“I came to Cathy for coaching as I’d recently had a health scare and was looking at ways to move forward after treatment.

There have been lots of benefits. I’d say the main standouts are understanding my own hooks and responses, recognising my feelings when they arise and having the tools to accept them, especially difficult feelings. Also having positive steps to move forward, which are simple and manageable.

I’m more able to recognise when my thoughts are becoming overwhelming and I’m using a tool that Cathy shared to plan activities and prioritise the things I care about. It’s been a very positive experience. Coaching has been a safe space to understand where I am now and where I want to be, and it has provided me with some tools to make positive changes.“ Client AB

“I am at a point in my life with a lot of change and stress and also my confidence was quite low. I wanted to look at ways to change that.

The main thing that will stay with me is that just because I think something about myself or a situation or what someone thinks that doesn’t mean it’s true, it’s a thought that I can challenge… There is often another perspective.

It was really nice to work with someone who was focused on listening to what I had to say and what I wanted to achieve in a kind and compassionate way, especially as being a mother my needs don’t often seem to come first!“ Client AC
