About me
Hi lovely! I’m Cat.
I’m pretty sure I was always meant to be a coach.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
I’m a bit of an odd case. You see, I trained to be a coach when I was 23 – that’s about 20 years earlier than the average age of people going through coach training – and I spent the first 5 years of my business coaching EVERYTHING and everyone. I coached individuals between the ages of 18 to 81, of every gender, across 6 continents, on topics as diverse as promotion, spirituality, dating, divorce, career change, new parenthood, business development, retirement, book writing, moving across the world, website development, empty nesting, proposing, becoming self employed, house hunting, sports competitions, and more. Honestly, you name it and it’s probably been present in a coaching session I’ve facilitated. Unlike almost every coach I’ve ever known, I didn’t narrow myself down into a niche immediately. I played!
6 years on and over 700 hours of coaching later, I tried something different...
Couples!
I realised that coaching that focused on relationships really lit me up. I also realised that, although working 1:1 on these issues worked perfectly well, I wanted to get both sides. Instead of planning towards a conversation you might have with your partner, I wanted to facilitate that conversation in real time. And I can do that, really bloody well.
There’s something magical about witnessing two individuals, who love each other passionately, think through the issues they bring you and deepen their understanding of each other and their relationship. It’s an honour and a privilege and I work incredibly hard to ensure I’m the best, most resourced, coach I can be for my couples.
So I did some specialist training and have been working with couples alongside my general coaching practice for the last two years. It's been a wonderful addition, and I feel very fortunate to be able to work with so many different kinds of people with so many different kinds of goals in my daily work.
I initially qualified as a Transformational Life Coach with Animas Centre for Coaching, but that was just the beginning. I have since qualified as a Coach Supervisor (someone other coaches come to ensure they’re on the top of their game, ethical, and continue to grow), have gained further qualifications in psychodynamics in coaching, and a specialist Diploma in Relationship Coaching, not to mention that I’m a proud member of the Association for Coaching and attend regular coaching supervision myself.
Outside of my work, I’m a devoted wife to my tech wizard of a husband, and a stay-at-home mum spending my days with my wonderful daughter. We live together in a house full of books in Stockport, England – though you’ll probably be able to tell I’m from London when we speak. I almost always have a cup of tea to hand (Yorkshire, obviously), think there can never be enough chocolate or fairy lights, and I have a mean side kick (the karate kind, not the superhero kind).
