What is holding you back in your life?
While walking past a group of elephants, a man suddenly stopped, after realising that these huge and beautiful creatures were being held by a thin rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was evident that these elephants could break away from their rope, if they wanted to, yet they didn’t.
He saw an elephant’s owner nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” the trainer said, “when they were very young and much smaller, we used the same sized rope to tie them; at that age, it was enough to hold them. As they grew up, they were conditioned to believe that they cannot break away. They believe that the rope can still hold them, so they never tried to break free.”
Because of this self-belief, the elephants were stuck right where they were, imprisoned even, forever. How sad that they will never know what it is to be free, to be able to make choices for themselves and to know what life is really all about.
Like the elephants, how many of us go through life held by an invisible rope? No different to these elephants; hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before, because it looks too difficult or we were told it is too difficult or even impossible?
Being coached will give you the choice of how to set yourself free of anything that is holding you back and life. Life is all about you having a choice - in everything you can do and become. This is what life is all about, isn’t it?
