Do you want to have an outstanding year and create a compelling future?

It's that time of year again where most of us reflect on the previous year and start to think about what we want to achieve in the year ahead.
A lot of us have tried new year’s resolutions and not stuck to them (me too).
We are complex individual’s living in a complex world. Most of us lead busy life’s with high demand on so many fronts, whether that’s work, family, friends, studying, the media, distractions with technology, food, fitness what are homes are like, cars – the list goes on and on telling us what we should be doing and often what others expect or want from us.
We often try to please everyone but can end up being at our own expense. We can achieve all that’s expected but we end up becoming our ‘list’! going from one thing to the next thing without stopping fully and enjoying the moment and properly taking time out – sound familiar? We stop being a human being and end up being a human doing.
All of us can get stuck in situations that we are not happy in and for varying reasons we stay there. It’s almost like part of us thinks ‘ooh well this is as good as it gets”. But that is not motivating, compelling or being the best, you possibly can be.?
We can miss out on the things that are important to us and being who we are truly meant to be - our authentic self.
At this time of year, it feels like a fresh start – this is why we set new year’s resolutions, its human nature as we want to progress, build on the year before or change things completely.
This is the perfect time to take stock of the year and think about our dreams, get clear on what we want and how you are going to achieve it.
Often there is a fine line between success and failure. So, its key you get the right support to make your dreams come true. It’s not the winning on its own that matters, it’s the what we need to become where success, joy and personal growth lies.
So let’s back to the thinking big – dream stage:
Get a notebook and book some quiet time on your own. Ask the following questions:
- If you knew you couldn’t fail what would you do?
- If you could do or be anything what would you be?
- If you hit the pause button and could have five other lives to lead what would you do?
This should help you get clear on what’s compelling and ideally what you really want to be and do….
If you're married ask your partner to do the same on their own and see what you both come up with.
Once you have completed the above it would be good to find yourself a great business coach who can help you get the foundations right at the start. They will help you navigate through the changes both within yourself and externally, help with the crucial conversations/negotiations starting with small steps. Because you are progressing you will feel energised, aligned within yourself and happy.
If its straight forward and you have all the internal and external resources already then start to break down your dream/goal into small steps with dates on when you will achieve the action point by.
Good luck - live your dreams!
