Do you believe that OCD is about germs, handwashing, and checking things are turned off? Have you heard of religious OCD? Harm OCD? or magical thinking OCD? No? Then everything you know about OCD has probably come from the media. There are many misconceptions about OCD in the media, and people are often embarrassed to talk about their theme (type) of OCD because of this.

By becoming more aware of OCD and its impact on sufferers, you will be able to relate better to people that have the disorder and break the stigma around the condition.

You will find many resources that tell you what OCD is, however, this workshop is hugely interactive. OCD is very much an emotion-driven disorder where people feel anxious or that something isn't right. Therefore, the main aim of the workshop is to help participants to feel what it's like to have OCD.

Important: If you already have OCD, this workshop may contain triggers, so please contact us before booking.

The OCD workshop includes the following;

  • what is OCD, themes (types) of OCD, and misconceptions
  • who suffers from OCD
  • the causes of OCD
  • the impact of OCD
  • understanding OCD
  • what are intrusive thoughts, obsessions, and compulsions
  • how OCD feels (this involves an interactive exercise using visualisation techniques to allow the participant to feel what it's like to have OCD and anxiety)
  • an uplifting exercise to return the participants to a positive state of mind
  • OCD in the workplace and risk assessment
  • the social and economic impact of OCD
  • is there a cure?
  • a story of hope
  • questions

You will leave the workshop with a greater understanding of OCD and the devastating impact it can have on individuals and their families. You will be more able to relate to those who have the disorder and will help us to replace the misconceptions around the condition with the facts.
