New you resolution
With Christmas approaching it might seem a little early to be talking about next year, but the best new year’s resolutions start with a new YOU resolution.
That means making the time and space to focus on yourself - and why not? You are your most powerful asset and it's your ability to set goals and stay focused on the things that will get you where you want to be that will make the difference in 2019.
That’s why, on this retreat, we’re going to look at the concepts of internal and external survival and that's why we've chosen somewhere special to host it, away from the welter of post-Christmas, interest-free credit, introductory gym memberships, diets, and social media updates about how everyone else spent the holiday.
This secluded bothy on the shores of Loch Lomond has everything we’ll need; beautiful beaches, rugged scenery, forests of pine, cold starry nights and a roaring wood burning stove.
While we’re there we’ll borrow some of the ancient technology that the people who lived here hundreds of years ago depended on, we’ll cook traditional fare with locally sourced produce, we’ll master the art of making and maintaining a campfire, and we’ll bake bread and make various essentials from wood and natural resources.
Perhaps most importantly, we’ll provide the opportunity for reflection. We'll dive into mindfulness, meditation and emotional intelligence theory and practices; building your self-awareness of your internal world. We'll be practicing both within the larger group and with opportunity for individual practice, whilst embracing our natural belonging and connection to nature through a mindful walk together through the forest.
The individual practice will include an option for a 'solo' experience; an opportunity to find solitude and embrace an afternoon in the wilds, just you, the essentials and the time and space for reflection.
