Coaching as an emotional support for those living with and beyond cancer: Experience from coaches and clients.
Andrew Marren is currently working full-time on a PhD collaboration between the University of Portsmouth and The Fountain Centre (a cancer charity). Over the last two years, the project has investigated the coaching service provided by the Fountain Centre to develop insights into cancer care coaching.
The presentation will detail the overall approach taken for the research and outline the methods used to capture the data across three studies. The presentation will focus on two studies:
- Study one explored coaches' experiences when coaching individuals who are living with and beyond cancer. The insights from study one illustrate coaches' approaches, behaviours, and considerations when working with clients who are in an uncertain and anxious time of their lives.
- Study two explored the client's experiences of coaching at the Fountain Centre. The insights from study two showed the impact of the coaching on clients' internal shift through being empowered, supporting self-discovery, and achieving calm and clarity in their lives.
The session will provide an exciting and valuable insight into the work at the Fountain Centre, and I look forward to speaking with the group.
