Some things are out of your control. You might have lost your job, a relationship or a loved one. If so, you will most likely be facing an excruciating amount of emotional pain. So here are six messages to help you stay resilient.
1. This pain will pass
Remember that no matter how bad things get, the current difficulties you are facing will pass. Everything changes – both good times and bad times will pass. Use this piece of knowledge to your advantage.
2. You’ve survived worse
If you look back on your life, you really are the master of survival and resilience. You’ve survived many challenges and tough times already. Even when you’ve faced an overwhelming problem, you’ve managed to overcome it. Remind yourself that this situation isn’t any different.
3. Release control and expectations
The more you learn to release your expectations about your circumstances, the less stressed and freer you will feel. Even though the situation isn’t turning out the way that you expected, trust that it will be OK in the end.
4. Learn life lessons
You might not be able to do much with your circumstances at the moment, but you will be able to learn from them when time passes.
5. The harder you fall, the higher you will rise
The more you fall, the more insight you will have about life. Have you noticed that many of the famous, successful people in the world have failed a lot themselves? The struggle and pain you are experiencing now will propel you to better things in the future.
6. Consider this a wake-up call
In these types of distressing situations you may just want to stay in bed rather than facing the reality of what life has thrown your way. But sometimes there are positives about being put through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. When you have been shaken up, you tend to wake up. You are in a new position, a position to make changes.
Sometimes in life you have to take several steps back to make great leaps forward.
