Most of us believe that all the vitamins we require for a health lifestyle are in the foods we consume, however, this is not always the case and it is of utmost importance that we take a variety of at least six vitamins for different purposes.

Vitamin A – Some of the known benefits of taking this vitamin regularly are to boost the immune system, giving you a lower chance of falling ill. It also cuts the risk of heart disease, and is believed to even help slow down the ageing process.

Vitamin B – This vitamin is believed to help speed up the metabolism, making weight loss more easy, and it also helps you to retain muscle tone.

Vitamin C – This is probably the most vital, as it is the one which our bodies are already lacking in. This vitamin is known to boost the immune system, fend off wrinkles, prevent heart disease and help with eye illnesses.

Vitamin D – This vitamin is believed to help reduce the risk of breast and ovarian cancer, and diabetes.

Calcium – To keep your bones and teeth strong, calcium is an important vitamin to take. It also helps with problems in the nervous system.

Iron – This is highly important, particularly for women who suffer from heavy periods. A lack of iron can lead to anaemia. If you are a vegetarian and are not getting the required amount of iron from eating red meat, then it is vital that you ensure you are taking iron tablets.

All of these vitamins should be taken with due care and attention. Always follow the instructions stated on the bottle, so that you are not consuming quantities which are higher than those which are recommended.
