For most of us Christmas is a happy time when we have the opportunity to down tools for a few days, allowing us to spend some quality time with our loved ones. However, for others who have friends and families who are in the armed services and deployed abroad, the festive season can often be a depressing time.
If you have a loved one who is unable to be with you at Christmas then here are a few tips which will help you to stay strong and stay smiling throughout the holidays:
Try to create a memorable experience for them. For instance if you have scheduled a web cam chat then set it up in front of the Christmas tree with all the family gathered around, or video the children opening their presents etc.
However you choose to spend the holidays, make sure you do it happily and endeavor to focus on the fact that this situation is only temporary.
