The new welfare proposals will mean that much more help will be available for those who’ve recently been made redundant, and to assist with mortgage payments and provide more opportunities for training. It is hoped that this will mean many people can get back into work as soon as possible. They’re being targeted at those who have been unemployed for six months or more, and have struggled to find a new job.
Having a job can help improve a person’s self-esteem, making them feel they have a purpose, and a contributing to society. It’s also hoped the reforms will encourage people to develop new skills and try new areas of work.
