Take control of your life
Do you find yourself simply going through the motions day-to-day? Time to take control...
Hands up who recognizes this daily routine:
- Alarm clock goes off, hit snooze, wake-up, get dressed, grab breakfast on route to work, arrive at office.
- Check emails, voicemails, callbacks, get coffee, catch up with colleagues.
- Start the days work, get interrupted, continue work, bathroom break, work, oops - missed lunch, back to work, more coffee, work, work, work.
- Drive home, help kids with homework, cook dinner, finish any outstanding work from office, bed.
Rinse and repeat. Not the prettiest of pictures huh? When we rush through our days like this we are more often than not running on auto-pilot and completely missing out on this so-called life.
So what can we do to change this? Take control. Right now, who would you say dictates your life? Your job? Your partner? The fact is, it should be you. While (sadly) we can't all quit our day jobs in the pursuit of true happiness, the following steps can get us that one step closer...
Discover your passions
Find out what it is you are truly passionate about in life - is it your family, travelling, helping others? Whatever it is try to find a way of honouring your life's passions in your everyday life.
Be grateful
Living life at high speed leaves little time to stop and smell the roses. Try to remember to take a moment to be grateful for what you have and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
Remember - all things are possible
This is your life remember. Don't let past experiences consume your thoughts and don't let future worries eat away at you - all things are possible.
Find a support system
Surround yourself with positive, life affirming people. If you're struggling to find a confidante/cheerleader, why not hire a life coach?
A life coach will take an objective look at your life and work with you to regain control. For more information on what a life coach could help you with, please see our Life Coaching Areas section.
