It’s time for a soul spring clean
Simple is sometimes better. Here are a few small changes you can make to your lifestyle that will help you declutter:
1. Analyse your time and cut back on any activities that are unproductive
Take note of how you spend your time over the next few days. Make a list of everything you do. Then take some time to review what you did and analyse what didn’t produce any positive results, didn’t help you improve or increase your happiness. Identify these activities and try to cut down on them, or even cut them out. You will be amazed at how many unproductive things you actually do each day.
2. Declutter
Now it’s time to take a look at the belongings you own. Try to be honest with yourself - if you haven’t used something in the last six months, you probably won’t in the next six. It’s just taking up space.
Try to be ruthless with belongings - sell them, give them away or throw them. Removing certain belongings from your life can help you move on - give it a try.
3. Cleanse your thoughts
Try to clear your mind. If you want to change your life for the better, negative thoughts do not have a place there.
Identify what’s causing the negative thoughts and try to address it. Even if this only means writing it down - recognising it is the first step. Perhaps you find that it’s the way you talk to yourself, or that someone in your surroundings is bringing you down. Once you recognise it, you can start taking steps to overcome it.
4. Keep everything organised
Find a place for everything at the office and at home. When you use something, remember to put it back where it belongs.
This simple habit is the foundation of your personal organisational skills. You won’t forget where anything is, so you will avoid the last-minute stress of trying to find the car keys before you leave for work. It will save you a lot of time and worries.
