Money is the biggest obstacle for quality family time

A study which was conducted as part of National Family Week has found that two thirds of parents say it is a lack of money that stops them from enjoying quality time with their children.

A staggering 68% of parents have declared that money is their biggest enemy when trying to spend more time with their partners and children. The researches involved in the survey spoke to 3,000 parents and 1,000 children about their views on quality family time and also found that the average family spends just 49 minutes a day together.

Participants were asked what they considered to be the most important thing in life to be, only 4% of parents said money with a huge 75% majority believing it was family life. Despite families wanting to spend more time with one another 36% said that money prevented them from doing so, while 20% cited stress ad 32% put it down to long working hours.

The survey seems like the perfect eyeopener for the week of events organised by several organisations who have come together to encourage families to treasure the time they spend with each other. National Family Week has been ongoing during this half term and has featured around 5,000 events ranging from sporting activities to picnic and story time sessions.
