Fit as a Fiddle – Promoting Healthy Ageing
A nationwide campaign funded by the Big Lottery Fund targets the health and well-being of over 50s.
The fit as a fiddle campaign is set to run for five years, during which its mission will be to support the health and well-being of over 50's by encouraging physical activity, healthy eating and good mental well-being.
The programme is divided across nine regions, Eastern, East Midlands, London, North East, North West, South East, South West, West Midlands and Yorkshire & Humberside, each of which hosts projects which promote healthy ageing based around ideas and needs of the people living in that particular area.
All of the events are run in partnership with local services and organisations and the programme also has links with various well-being programmes such as Age UK's Aging Well Programme, with whom they share ideas and network.
The programme offers a huge range of innovative and diverse projects, ranging from gentle exercise sessions, agerobics and cycling through to healthy cook and eat courses, gardening and volunteering opportunities. For more information about how you can get involved visit Age UK here.
