Family dinners equal more well-behaved children

Family dinners equal more well-behaved childrenThe National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University have recently published the results of a ten year study which has revealed children who eat dinner with their families are less likely to smoke, drink or use drugs.

As little as thirty minutes each night, or just sitting at the dinner table for a couple of meals each week can help to strengthen the family unit and make children less susceptible to harmful influences.

Though home cooked meals on the table every night at the at the same time may seem like a mission to orchestrate it can easily be done with a little planning such as making stews, meatloaf, shepherd's pies, lasagnes etc in advance and then freezing them for a later date.

If your schedule really does not allow you time to cook then even bringing home dinner such as pizza or a takeaway once a week for a treat will help to keep the family unit together.
