Stop Resisting Your Success

What is resistance? It’s that invisible yet real fear barrier that stops you from reaching your full potential and living the life as the person you want to be.
Resistance must be seen as a pointer, and that which you have resisted most is usually also the true direction of your life. Have you ever gone out on a limb and been bold and then found true success and achievement beyond your expectations?
Verifiable triumphs come about by learning to be aware of, appreciate and conquer your own resistance.
Resistance is the internal force that frustrates, sabotages and prevents people from living the lives they were born for – their life’s purpose. All people can be said to have two distinct parts, spiritual and personality, with the spiritual part desiring to express itself and to be extraordinary. Our personality can attempt to keep us small and afraid in this big world of ours. Therefore, there is a constant battle between the parts of ourselves. In order to overcome the negative effects of our personality and it’s resistance to greatness, one needs to shrink this very resistance so that the spirit can shine through and assist us reaching our ambitions and life purpose.
Resistance can be the way you disrupt your path to personal success. The thing you are most resisting being or doing is probably the thing that would most fulfil you and you could probably be successful at. This could be resisting your career, destiny, relationships and many, many others. When you stop resisting and start living your dreams, you open the doors to greater happiness and affluence. The problem is that relatively few people do overcome their resistance and let their inspiration shine through. However, once you have understood the dynamics of resistance you will allow yourself the opportunity to let your inspiration be the greater force.
Here are 3 things you need to understand about resistance:
1. Resistance is not a character defect on your part, it is fundamentally an operating software of being human. We all have resistance and we can all beat resistance.
2. Resistance points you at what you care about and to your own greatness. If you didn’t care, and if it wasn’t important, why bother to resist?
3. What you are most resisting is success and your significance. You fear failure, looking silly and making poor decisions. When you stop yourself moving forward in your life it is usually because you believe that by not acting you are saving yourself from potential pain. You need to beat your resistance and to play big.
There are many ways to overcome resistance. The first thing is to become aware of its existence, only then can you do something about it. Then, secondly, look at your choices available to you, such as choosing the courage to take the first steps to do what you want to do. Feel fear and do it anyway. Feel the guilt and do it anyway. Feel the unworthiness and do it anyway. Thirdly, take small steps and keep the momentum going, after which it becomes easier.
When trying to defeat resistance, only ever work on the problems that currently exist. No “what ifs?”, no focusing on problems that don’t yet exist. Don’t avoid problems, everyone has problems, treat them as challenges and growing opportunities.
Resistance can never be fully beaten, it will be with us every day but we must confront it daily and carry on. Finally, make a commitment to keep finding your way through resistance no matter how you feel. Sometimes you just have to do it regardless.
