About me

I'm celebrating Newport #FreshAirFridays being one year old! What are you grateful for in life this August?

Hello! Welcome to Agdela Coaching and Fresh Air Fridays. I am Melanie Faulks and I'm a Work Psychologist, Life Coach and #FreshAirFridays Facilitator. I help you with wellbeing, life and work - especially after sickness.

My services are 1-1 Employment & Life Coaching (Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural & NLP) in South East Wales and a monthly outdoor group session in Newport - by the coast and in a forest!

For #FreshAirFridays

First Wednesday of each month 9.45am - 1pm. Yes! Get that Friday feeling any day of the week. Come and see what we do. If you have never been on a #FreshAirFridays session then the first one is always FREE. If you are a member, you are welcome to come on ANY and AS MANY of the sessions as you would like. (Several locations & different days in South East Wales, Bristol and beyond are running - so you can always get to one!)

For 1-1 Coaching

My primary coaching services are:

  • Employment Coaching - What are your work related needs, aims and aspirations? How is it all going?
  • Personal Life Coaching - Is your life the best it can be? Whatever that means to you..... or not quite yet?

I am available Tuesday to Thursday including evenings and the occasional Saturday morning. I provide 1-1 coaching in person and by telephone when we can't get together. Our venue options are outdoor coaching, coffee shop coaching (in pre-selected and comfortable venues) and private face-to-face coaching sessions can take place at Kemeys Grange, Newport and the R&R Consulting Centre, Cardiff.

How about taking a look at my video clip below? It's all about how I can help with wellbeing, life and work.

What is coaching?

Coaching is all about being the best you can be and achieving in life what you really hoped for - and it's for anyone! Anyone who wants to make changes to, or make progress with, a particular area of their life - including employment. It is also for people who may have started already but have become stuck or stalled.

And if you don't know where to start, I can help with that too!

A coach helps you step back and reflect on your current situation, including yourself, and decide on new (usually exciting!) goals or assess your current goals and direction. Together, you'll work out how best you're going to move forwards and create action plans that work - effective ones! Coaches are impartial and as you work towards achieving your goals, they provide encouragement, a constructive sounding board and motivation. They will also discuss progress with you and you will receive non-judgemental (but sometimes gently challenging!) feedback. They also assist you to address any set backs and practical obstacles.

In addition to being Solution Focused, I'm a Cognitive Behavioural and NLP coach. This means I can help you to overcome those psychological obstacles (unhelpful and hampering thoughts, feelings and behaviours) that we often encounter along the way to achievement and success.

You will get to know yourself better and increase your personal insight, skills and confidence for future activities and aspirations too.

What's your full potential? And when are you planning to reach for it?

"I just wanted to thank you for all your help and advice in our coaching sessions, and say it was definitely helpful in me achieving my goal of getting a job." Thomas, 22, a recent graduate.

"Melanie really helped me to refocus my priorities and give me better perspective over my work life." James, 42.

"Working through my challenges with Melanie has helped me achieve a much improved work/life balance. I now have the tools to make that sustainable." Emma, 36.

"Thank you, I feel happier, more positive and more willing to be open to new opportunities." Jo, 35, who was at a crossroads in life and navigated some important decisions.

"After the first talk we had, I felt you were helping me already and I had confidence in you to help." Steve, 31, who has a permanent physical disability and became self employed.

"Your support was invaluable when you feel that you are no good to anyone in the work market of today. Thanks, I will let you know later in the year how things are progressing." Alan, 54, returned to work after a period of anxiety & depression.

"My work with Melanie has helped me a lot. I've put the new assessment process in place and my motivation and creativity at work as increased alongside." Anonymous evaluation following 1 to 1 staff coaching at a supported housing association.

Your new thinking and planning partner awaits.....!

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been supporting people to achieve their needs, goals and aspirations for over 15 years and I have the following qualifications:

  • MSc in Occupational Psychology

My coachee's goals and action plans have ranged from condition management and life management to finding, sustaining and succeeding in the work.

Not all but many of my coachees have been people living alongside and managing:

Fees

First Step - 1-1 Coaching Consultation

I believe that all coaching should begin with a NO-OBLIGATION coaching consultation so this is the first step in all my 1-1 services. We can meet at a choice of pre-selected and comfortable coffee shops for £30 or you can choose a private room coaching consultation for £50. I introduce coaching and you tell me about your needs, hopes, aspirations and knowledge of coaching - all in confidence of course.

The quality of the relationship between you and your coach is important to the success of the coaching programme.

If, after chatting, we think we can work well together and meet each other's expectations, then great and we'll make a start! First, we'll meet for a 2 hour 'Reflect, Explore and Plan' meeting. Here, we really start to focus and reflect on your hopes and aims, explore and choose goals and - by the end of the session - you'll have an anticipated coaching programme and a 'ready to go!' action plan.

I always ask if you want to take a photograph of any notes I may have captured too. People say how helpful they are! ....and you're off!

Your anticipated coaching programme includes the purpose of the coaching, outcome measures, anticipated location and duration of our coaching sessions, cost and payment method, cancellation policy, confidentiality, between session contact, how to address any arising issues and service evaluation.

Coaching session rates

As a private client, my 1-1 coaching ranges from £60 to £180 per month depending on session location (i.e. outdoors, coffee shop or private consulting room) and duration (1, 2 or 3 hours). Contract work with Health and Social Care employers or Vocational Rehabilitation providers is negotiated separately.

A one to one coaching programme typically consists of us meeting monthly for 1, 2 or 3 hours at your preferred location. Client's needs and preferences are at the heart of all coaching agreements and will reflect upon and review your experience and progress throughout.

Do also let me know if you would like to meet but live a little further away from Newport and Cardiff - I would be glad to explore potential options with you.

Pro-bono Work

Do ask me about my free services. I currently work as a pro-bono Career Coach at Shaw Trust in Newport.

Payment Terms

Advance payment is required for all coaching sessions. The no-obligation consultation/chemistry meeting and your first coaching session - your 2 hour 'Reflect, Explore & Plan' session - is paid via PayPal or Bank Transfer.

Subsequent coaching sessions are payable on the 1st of each month and payments are accepted via Standing Order, PayPal and Bank Transfer.

Contract Terms

I operate a rolling monthly contract with no minimum tie-in period.
