Have you noticed Spring yet? The bulbs, the longer days. How is your own year blossoming.....? #Happy #March!
Hello! Welcome to Agdela Coaching and Fresh Air Fridays! I am Melanie Faulks and I'm a Work Psychologist, Life Coach and #FreshAirFridays Facilitator. I help you with wellbeing, life and work - and especially after sickness.
My services are 1-1 (Solution Focused & Cognitive Behavioural) Coaching in South East Wales and a monthly #FreshAirFridays group session in Newport - by the coast and in a forest.
First Wednesday of each month 9.45am - 1pm. Yes! Get that Friday feeling any day of the week! Come and see what we do! If you have never been on a #FreshAirFridays session then the first one is always FREE. If you are a member, you are welcome to come on ANY and AS MANY of the sessions as you would like. Several locations and various days are available so you can always get to one! www.freshairfridays.co.uk/melanie-faulks/
For 1-1 Coaching
My primary coaching services are:
- Work Talk for Employment Coaching
What is your ideal job? Career aim? Or current work aim?
- Life Talk for Personal Coaching
Is your life the best it can be?.....or not quite yet?
I am available Monday to Friday (including evenings) and Saturday mornings. I provide 1-1 coaching in person and by telephone. Outdoor coaching and coffee shop coaching (in pre-selected and comfortable venues) is available along with private face-to-face coaching sessions at Kemeys Grange, Newport and the R&R Consulting Centre, Cardiff. Of course we can discuss email 'inbox' coaching too if that suits you better.
Coaching is all about being the best you can be and achieving in life what you really hoped for - and it's for anyone! Anyone who wants to make changes to, or make progress with, a particular area of their life - including employment. It is also for people who may have started already but have become stuck or stalled.
And if you don't know where to start, I can help with that too!
A coach helps you step back and reflect on your current situation, including yourself, and decide on new (usually exciting!) goals or assess your current goals and direction. Together, you'll work out how best you're going to move forwards and create action plans that work - effective ones! Coaches are impartial and as you work towards achieving your goals, they provide encouragement, a constructive sounding board and motivation. They will also discuss progress with you and you will receive non-judgemental (but sometimes gently challenging!) feedback. They also assist you to address any set backs and practical obstacles.
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Coach. This means I can also help you to overcome those psychological obstacles (unhelpful and hampering thoughts, feelings and behaviours) that we often encounter along the way to achievement and success.
You will get to know yourself better and increase your personal insight, skills and confidence for future activities and aspirations too.
What's your full potential? And when are you planning to reach for it?
"I just wanted to thank you for all your help and advice in our coaching sessions, and say it was definitely helpful in me achieving my goal of getting a job." Thomas, 22, a recent graduate.
"Melanie really helped me to refocus my priorities and give me better perspective over my work life." James, 42.
"Working through my challenges with Melanie has helped me achieve a much improved work/life balance. I now have the tools to make that sustainable." Emma, 36.
"Thank you, I feel happier, more positive and more willing to be open to new opportunities." Jo, 35, who was at a crossroads in life and navigated some important decisions.
"After the first talk we had, I felt you were helping me already and I had confidence in you to help." Steve, 31, who has a permanent physical disability and became self employed.
"You work openly and honestly. You are respectful and empowering." Marianne, 27, a carer's feedback.
"Your support was invaluable when you feel that you are no good to anyone in the work market of today. Thanks, I will let you know later in the year how things are progressing." Alan, 54, returned to work after a period of anxiety & depression.
"My work with Melanie has helped me a lot. I've put the new assessment process in place and my motivation and creativity at work as increased alongside." Anonymous evaluation following 1 to 1 staff coaching at a supported housing association.
Things might well be ok but you want them better. You might not NEED a coach – but you might WANT a coach. A coach is your confidential thinking partner.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been supporting people to achieve their needs, goals and aspirations for over 13 years and I have the following qualifications:

Areas of coaching I deal with
Other areas of coaching I deal with
1-1 Coaching Consultation
I believe that all coaching should begin with a NO-OBLIGATION coaching consultation so this is the first step in all my services. We can meet at a choice of pre-selected and comfortable coffee shops for £20 or you can choose a private room coaching consultation for £40. I introduce coaching and you tell me about your needs, hopes, aspirations and knowledge of coaching - all in confidence of course.
The quality of the relationship between you and your coach is important to the success of the coaching programme.
If, after chatting, we think we can work well together and meet each other's expectations, then great and we'll make a start! First, we'll meet for a 2 hour 'Reflect, Explore and Plan' meeting. Here, we really start to focus and reflect on your hopes and aims, explore and choose goals and - by the end of the session - you'll have an anticipated coaching programme and a 'ready to go!' action plan.
You'll also receive your own copy of the coaching session notes and..... You're off!
My Work Talk service starts from £55 per session and increases according to session location (i.e. outdoors, coffee shop or consulting room), duration (1 or 2 hours) and, if applicable, the administration and feedback of occupational assessments. Please note, the administration of occupational assessments requires private consulting room appointments. The length of your Employment Coaching programme depends on your own particular needs and preferences - all jointly discussed and agreed.
My Life Talk service also starts from £55 per session and increases according to session location (i.e. outdoors, coffee shop or consulting room) and duration (1 or 2 hours). A Personal Coaching programme typically consists of meeting monthly for six months however your needs and preferences are at the heart of any coaching agreement. We reflect upon and review progress throughout and for some, success has taken less than 6 sessions to accomplish.
Don't forget there's Email (Inbox) Coaching too if that suits you better.
Do also let me know if you would like to meet but live a little further away from Newport and Cardiff - I would be glad to explore potential options with you.
Do ask me about my pro-bono work. I currently work as a pro-bono Career Coach at Shaw Trust in Newport.
