Hello! Welcome to Agdela Coaching and Fresh Air Fridays. I am Melanie Faulks and I'm a Work Psychologist, Life Coach and #FreshAirFridays Facilitator. I help you with wellbeing, life and work - especially after sickness.
My services are 1-1 Employment & Life Coaching (Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural & NLP) and small group wellbeing sessions - outdoors in nature.
Welcome to #FreshAirFridays in Newport. My outdoor group sessions on the coast, in a forest and in your local park! Your opportunity to take time out, check in with yourself, relax, recharge and explore how to create the life you want - and all whilst taking a walk in glorious nature.
Newport #FreshAirFridays with Melanie runs on the first Wednesday of every month 10am -1pm and the following Friday. The growing Fresh Air Fridays team offer these innovative sessions on various days now. You can always get to one.

I offer monthly 1-1 coaching from £60 to £180 per month depending on session location and duration (half day, 2 hours, 1 hour). We meet up in person and you can choose from outdoor coaching (alongside some walking of course!), coffee shop coaching (in pre-selected and comfortable venues) or a private coaching room. I use the comfortable consulting rooms at Wellbeing Solutions, Newport and the R&R Consulting Centre, Cardiff. Do let me know if you would like to meet but live a little further away from Newport and Cardiff - I would be glad to explore potential options with you.
What is coaching?
Coaching is all about being the best you can be and achieving in life what you really hoped for - and it's for anyone! Anyone who wants to make changes to, or make progress with, a particular area(s) of their life. It is also for people who may have started already but have become stuck or stalled.

A coach helps you step back and reflect on your current situation, including yourself, and decide on new (usually exciting!) goals or assess your current goals and direction. Together, you'll work out how best you're going to move forwards and create action plans that work - effective ones! Coaches are impartial and as you work towards achieving your goals, they provide encouragement, a constructive sounding board and motivation. They will also discuss progress with you and you will receive non-judgemental (but sometimes gently challenging!) feedback. They also assist you to address any set backs and practical obstacles.
In addition to being Solution Focused, I'm a Cognitive Behavioural and NLP coach. This means I can help you to overcome those psychological obstacles (unhelpful and hampering thoughts, feelings and behaviours) that we often encounter along the way to achievement and success.
You will get to know yourself better and increase your personal insight, skills and confidence for future activities and aspirations too.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have been supporting people to achieve their needs, goals and aspirations for over 15 years and I have the following qualifications:
- MSc in Occupational Psychology
- Certificate in Competence for Occupational Testing
- Certificate in Coaching (approved by the British Psychological Society)
- Post Graduate Certificate in Mental Health
I also have personal experience of working with a coach.
Prior to coaching independently, I worked in condition management, vocational rehabilitation and employment coaching for NHS Primary Care, Rethink Mental Illness and Jobcentre Plus. I've attended Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural, Motivational Interviewing and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) training courses and keep up to date. My coachee's goals and action plans have ranged from condition management and life management to finding, sustaining and succeeding in the workplace.
Not all but many of my coachees have been people living alongside and managing:
- Physical health conditions/disabilities
- Specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia
I am a member of The British Psychological Society's (BPS) Division of Occupational Psychology, the BPS Special Group in Coaching, The Association of Coaching and hold Professional Indemnity Insurance with Howden. I have regular 1-1 professional supervision and attend the BPS SGCP Peer Practice group in Bristol.

1-1 Coaching - the first step
I believe that all coaching should begin with a NO-OBLIGATION coaching consultation/chemistry meeting so this is the first step in all my 1-1 services. We can meet at a choice of pre-selected and comfortable coffee shops for £30 or you can choose a private room coaching consultation for £50. I introduce coaching and you tell me about your needs, hopes, aspirations and knowledge of coaching - all in confidence of course.
The quality of the relationship between you and your coach is important to the success of the coaching programme.
If, after chatting, we think we can work well together and meet each other's expectations, then great and we'll make a start!
Your first 1-1 coaching session
First, we'll meet for a 2 hour 'Reflect, Explore and Plan' launch session. Here, we really start to focus and reflect on your hopes and aims, explore and choose goals and - by the end of the session - you'll have an anticipated coaching programme and a 'ready to go!' action plan.
I always ask if you want to take a photograph of any notes I may have captured. People say how helpful they are! ....and you're off!
Your anticipated coaching programme includes the purpose of the coaching, outcome measures, anticipated location and duration of our coaching sessions, cost and payment method, cancellation policy, confidentiality, between session contact, how to address any arising issues and service evaluation.
The cost of your 2 hour 'Reflect, Explore and Plan' session is:
Outdoors & Coffee shop venue: £120
Consulting room venue: £160
Subsequent 1-1 coaching sessions
Following your 2 hour launch session, we'll probably meet monthly. You can choose from £60 to £180 per month depending on your chosen location (i.e. outdoors, coffee shop or private coaching room) and duration (half day, 2 hours, 1 hour). Associate/contract work with Health and Social Care employers and Vocational Rehabilitation providers is negotiated separately.
I provide a free 'return to work' coaching service to Shaw Trust in Newport. Let me know if you are an organisation interested in this type of opportunity.
Advance payment is required, payment is accepted via PayPal, Bank Transfer, Standing Order and I operate a 48 hour cancellation policy.
I offer a rolling monthly contract with no minimum tie-in period.
