About me

My coaching service is relevant for individuals in a range of settings - executive (business), public sector and on a personal level.

Coaching is most relevant to clients that are seeking positive and lasting change in their lives. It can be a change in relation to thoughts, actions, behaviours that are interfering with development and growth. My aim is to gain a clear understanding of each client's experience as well as what they would like to achieve through the coaching relationship. Together we set goals for coaching within an agreed time frame.

Executive & Professional Coaching:

Themes and issues can include, but are not limited to:

  • Career Transition
  • Leadership Development
  • Top Talent Management
  • Return to work
  • Improved Performance
  • Developing effective business skills
  • Communication Skills

Life Coaching:

  • Developing mental well being
  • Exploration and understanding of interfering thoughts, behaviours and actions.
  • Increased levels of self awareness
  • Improved decision making
  • Developing authentic sense of self
  • Generating more joy and authentic happiness
  • Developing empowerment over issues that can be typically inhibiting for growth
  • Techniques for effective stress management
  • Developing self belief and confidence

In a safe and secure environment, together we consider new ways of being and thinking. Assessing the effectiveness of the learning gained through the coaching relationship.Through this process, we continually refine and hone what is effective for you as we meet the coaching goals.

How we start
I invite any potential client to make contact with me via email through the advertised channel. We will then arrange a convenient time for a phone call, where we will have a relaxed, confidential conversation. The purpose of this conversation is for you to get a clearer sense of me as a person and my approach to coaching. It is during this conversation that together we can form an opinion as to whether we maybe compatible to work together. There is no charge for this initial phone conversation.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications -

MA in Psychological Coaching, Metanoia Institute:

Two year Masters course. This qualification allows me to work with individuals at a deep psychological level. I use an integrative approach in my coaching practice which means that I have the ability to introduce a range of effective interventions from a selection of psychological frameworks. My approach is not 'one size fits all', rather I strive to understand where each client presently is before considering relevant new learning skills.

NEO PI - R Personality Inventory (Psychometric Assessment)

As a qualified practitioner for the NEO PI-R I am also able to undertake psychometric assessments for coaching clients. I have found that use of NEO PI-R assessments have been effective in coaching, particularly they can provide useful insight and focus for reflection around preferred styles.
The NEO PI-R is internationally recognised as the ‘gold standard’ instrument with which to measure personality. The qualification is accredited and verified by the British Psychological Society (BPS), as well as being internationally recognised and aligned with the standards of competence defined by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA).

Training -

  • Coaching and the Enneagram, 5 day workshop
  • Psychology of Abundance, 3 day workshop
  • Success Intelligence, 3 day workshop
  • Psysoft Training - Occupational, Ability & Personality (Level A & B), 3 day course
  • Advanced Trauma Intervention, within a Legal Framework, 2 day workshop

Experience (from 2010 onwards) -

Coaching within the civil service. Providing psychometric assessments, developing talent/leaders and for one on one coaching sessions with clients that work in challenging, high performance environments.

I am adept at working with clients that are presenting symptoms of stress. Individuals who maybe feeling that they are in a position of functional suffering, perhaps on the edge of what we commonly refer to as the 'comfort zone'. Primary goals include assessing well being of clients, building self awareness around the symptoms and impact of stress, creating appropriate techniques for improved well being and mental toughness, understanding and initiating the requirements for effective management.

Executive coaching for clients that work in professional business environments. Coaching work has included working with talent for the development of effective management and improved performance, development of business skills, improving communication and presentation skills as well as for leadership development.

Life Coaching for individuals seeking positive and lasting change in their lives.

Testimonials -

Joe's commitment to an individual approach has enabled the building of rapport and trust with civil servants, which is difficult to achieve in such a sensitive and discreet environment. Joe has an ability to find people 'where they are' and to encourage and inspire self reflection that ultimately supports our teams to mitigate their experience of stress and encourage development.
Dr Isabel Roberts

Upon hearing positive feedback from work colleagues I decided to give coaching with Joe a go. We worked collaboratively with the aim of gaining a better understanding of my role in managing challenging relationships at work. After six months coaching, the results were proven in my promotion by the board to group programme director.
Warwick, Programme Director, Regus

Joe helped me rebuild my confidence and improve my personal relationships. As a direct result of the work that we did together I was able to regain my confidence and approach interviews on my terms, by understanding my strengths and myself better. I am now in a role that I enjoy getting up for. More importantly my relationship with my family improves the more I understand their needs as well as my own.
