About me

I will help you create balance and success in your life.

I specialise as a coach in helping people who are ready to take back control of their own lives in a proactive positive way.

As a registered nurse I am also a specialist in helping my clients to quit smoking once and for all.

Combine these skills with extensive life experience you have an unbeatable combination; ready to help you to achieve.

I enjoy helping people to give up smoking. I really love the feeling that we both get when successful. It is a really life enhancing process and so positive, health wise, mentally and physically.

I will help you to dig deep, find the time and energy to finally succeed.

I have already helped many, many people in this situation. I know from experience how lovely it is to start ; fired with enthusiasm, It's easy and success is just around the corner. Then maybe you have just one cigarette, or miss something out that you needed to do; never mind you will soon make it up easily carry on or: before you know it several weeks have passed and you are busy smoking a few more cigarettes and/or doing other things. Then you look back and wonder where the time has gone and don't know how to get going again.

I will help you to create space in your busy life to make that time to finally achieve your own unique awesomeness.

This will give you a huge boost psychologically, personally and professionally.

As your coach, I will use all of my skills and experience to help you to give up smoking.

I will help you to confidently identify your best way forward towards creating and achieving this goal in your own way.

As your coach I will help you to think more effectively and creatively about how you live your life, how you solve problems, make decisions, set goals, plan for the future, yes, this is all involved in quitting smoking too.

It will always be a worthwhile investment in yourself.

'Think of yourself as a treasured possession worth upkeeping and fine tuning to perform at optimum levels.'
(Jennie Lockley)

Why would you want to be coached?
Often people find themselves in a position where they know what they want to achieve or have a dream, such as quitting smoking but not sure how to go about it, or have tried and not succeeded for various reasons.
Imagine a 'dream with a date', the date makes it more real and easier to work towards.

As your coach I act as a catalyst or facilitator who can help make this journey possible by the skilled use of questions and/or exercises to enable you to think more deeply about what you want to achieve and ways you can achieve it.
This process usually finds where you have limiting beliefs that may be  stopping you from moving on. Sometimes it's hard to let go of a belief you have had all your life that is simply not true. It may be something simple like thinking that you don’t have a particular skill, how do you know this? have you ever tried? Has someone told you that you cannot do this thing? Why do you believe them?

You will learn to think for yourself, in a broader, more effective way, you will become more confident.

How long will it take?

Your initial contact, usually by phone, is complimentary, just for us to talk and get to know each other a little and to see how we can work together. My courses last up to 12 weeks. There is a main course then an optional follow up course which is less intense that lasts up to 12 weeks too.
It is helpful to think of it as a course you will complete;

It may be challenging. But, anything worth having will stretch you and will be a challenge.

How will it benefit me?

It will be liberating and empowering, life changing.

By talking to you in depth I will find the very best way to help you
You will find yourself stretched and challenged in a way, that is beneficial to you as an individual.
Your own personal development will be addressed in a way that is of benefit to your long term health; individually tailored to you.

I feel strongly that everyone has strength and potential that isn't always obvious.

I am easy to talk to and this is a strength I will use to find how best to help you in a safe, confidential, friendly environment.
My particular gift is being able to listen very carefully to you, to enable me to help you in a way that is exactly right for you, as the individual you are.

Having coached people from all over the world, for a variety of reasons, I have noticed one common underlying theme, confidence, or a lack of it, this often stops people from moving forward with their plans and dreams. Often people convince themselves they cannot do something, I will help you to find that hidden strength to succeed.
I will help you to break down the barriers that prevent you moving on in life, in a fun, creative way.
I am the life coach who helps you to deal with the myriad of thoughts and fears that are stirred up at such a time.

I help my clients to recognise where their strengths lie and how to get through difficult times by encouraging them to think very broadly about all of the options open to them.

People I coach often comment that it has been much easier than they thought it would be, and that my gentle yet perceptive manner was very beneficial to them achieving their goals and moving further than they thought possible initially. (please have a look at my recommendations towards the end of this entry)

  • Ready to give up smoking?
  • Tried in the past but started again?
  • Need someone to help you to succeed this time?
  • Want someone who has been through it and succeeded to help you?

This is time that is completely yours. Focused on you and what you want to do in your life to move forwards. Completely confidential.

Your coaching sessions with me will help you to set goals and make plans.
This will involve talking, it may involve doing exercises to help you to think in depth about and discover what is important to you.
I may suggest books or articles to read or webinars/videos to listen to and watch.
I will help you to start thinking differently, in a proactive creative way.

You will be responsible for taking action to achieve your goals, it will be challenging at times but you will get there.
I will encourage you to think differently, more completely, about all aspects of your life.
This will enable you to stretch yourself in ways you possibly hadn't thought possible.

You can take small steps or big ones; as your coach I will be with you along the way helping you to identify and plan the actions to take to achieve your goals.

I coach from home, face to face (Market Bosworth, Leicestershire) on the phone, face time, by skype or in a place more central to us both if an appropriate venue is available such as a cafe, or even go for a walk which is an approach I have successfully used for the occasional session to help clarify thoughts.

It can be fun, it can be emotional but it is always worthwhile.
(I've a big box of tissues ready for the emotion should it raise its head) :)

With all the work and life experience I have had with helping people, I feel I have reached my own niche in life by becoming a life coach. It means I can now spend time fully focused on the individual I am coaching and give them the time needed to fully reach their own potential.

I have worked fully as a coach for the last 5+ years; having worked part time as a coach for many years prior to this.
I am currently focusing on helping people to give up smoking once and for all. As a registered nurse and qualified life coach I can use my clinical and coaching skills and life experience to be effective in this process. I am an ex smoker myself and fully understand the challenges of quitting for good. I gave up 30+ years ago by going cold turkey with my husband supporting me, I did it; but it wasn't easy. (you can read my story on my website if you are interested)
Nowadays there is a much easier way to do it with Nicotine replacement therapy and support from myself who understands the reality of quitting.
I am keen to keep myself fit and I enjoy learning as much as I can about having a balanced life myself both nutritionally and physically, I am a belly dancer, cyclist, gardener. I grow my own vegetables and fruit (with mixed results.)
I worked as a triage nurse for 8 years before this with the out of hours GP's, most recently as a NHS111 pathways practitioner. Before that I was a theatre/endoscopy nurse for 10 years.
I initially qualified as a nurse in 1980.
I have been a community first responder since 2007; attending emergency calls in her area whilst awaiting the ambulance to arrive.
I have 3 grown up children and have recently become a grandmother.
I was a registered childminder for a number of years.
I have had a varied life and has worked as a knitwear designer and maker, I've been a dinner lady, a cleaner and a night nurse in a nursing home, all to fit in with my family and to ensure a good quality of life where I was available for them as they grew up. I have lots of experience helping people with dyslexia achieve their potential. This has proven very worthwhile.

I have a lot of experience supporting people in their lives, understanding and empathy are some of my core values.
I will help you out you at any point, but particularly helping with quitting smoking. Confidence, career changes, redundancy, retirement planning, stress management are all associated areas that are covered. This list could go on further but you must have an idea by now of the sort of person I am

Have a look at my web page for more of my story and what I offer you as a coach or email me to find more about what motivated me to become a successful coach with a good work life balance.

Give me a call to arrange a no obligation chat, to see how I can help you, or email me and we can arrange it that way.

This initial session will be complimentary just for us to get to know each other a little to see how well we can work together.

Once you decide to proceed we will be able to arrange further sessions and I will send you some preparatory information.
I offer a 12 week smoking cessation course. This includes full support from me via coaching sessions 1-1.
These sessions will be weekly coaching sessions with email and telephone contact in between for additional help as required, we will plan the exact format once we start.

The first session once you decide to to have me to help you will be approximately 90 minutes, this is for us to plan your journey to become an ex smoker. Following ones will be up to 30 minutes.

It will be to suit you, this is why it is such a powerful way to quit.

I understand that we are all different and approach challenges differently.

My strength is that I listen very carefully to what you are telling me and help you to tailor a plan that will work for you. It may be helpful to think of it as a course you would complete; then think if you want to continue with a less full on support plan ie: touching base with me less often but maintaining contact to retain the support as needed.

My fees vary according to which package you choose.

My smoking cessation is a 12 week course payable in one go or monthly.
This costs £280 per month so a total of £840 for the complete course.

The follow on course is 12 weeks too and is costs £200 per month so £600 in total.

Remember this is a course that will change your life for the better and will save you money in the long term.

My fees for coaching generally vary as do the length of sessions.
I charge £30 for a 30 minute slot and £60 for up to 1 hour as a general rule of thumb.

Testimonials/ recommendations.

I found Jennie to be a very warm, empathetic coach who listened with intent and a real passion. She helped me generate my options and build a way forward. She was very encouraging, challenging me when required and reminded me of my previous successes which resulted in me looking at things from a different angle and re-instating old positive beliefs.

"Jennie is a great person she has such wonderful ability to make you feel comfortable from the very first session. Jennie is very understanding and has such warm personality that sessions with her felt just like conversations with an old friend.

Previously, I often felt worried and lacked confidence and now I'm motivated and inspired. I gained new knowledge and discovered my potential and most importantly I have increased my confidence.

Being coached by Jennie was a great experience and if you are looking to increase your confidence and gain motivation, Jennie is the right person for you.

Karolina B."

“Jennie is a compassionate, empathetic yet challenging coach who has supported me and enabled me to clearly develop my goals and ambitions and put in place positive and clear steps to help achieve these. I am so lucky to have met Jennie and cannot thank her enough for her support.” (A.R Coventry),

'I trust Jen implicitly, I felt completely at ease and emotionally safe. Jen is non
judgemental and gives me the freedom to grow. She has decades of experience as a professional carer as a nurse, and supported people in other areas such as bereavement, and crisis management; this comes across and gives you great confidence in her. I have learnt what is holding me back and that I do not need to be the best at something in order for me to progress and make a living at it. I have learned to organise what direction I need to take to achieve my goals.' ( C.B. Nuneaton.)

'Jennie has helped me in many areas of my life that are important to me. Just by talking to Jennie I feel I have a great friend with wisdom and subtle skills to help me. Jennie is a great listener but has also challenged me when I needed to break down obstacles and she also notices what I have not said. Jennie has helped me to think outside my previously held beliefs, some of the things I have gained from our sessions have been positively life changing. I feel confident she will help many more people in the future.'   ( BKW, Derbyshire.)

'I came to Jennie feeling lost and directionless, I felt I had lost my identity when I was made redundant after working as a designer for all of my working life. My confidence has plummeted. Jennie helped me to focus on what was important to me and helped me to recognise my personality traits which affect how I tackled my quest. I know I work well to a deadline but am prone to procrastination so having 'tasks' of which I have had to report has helped to galvanise me into action. Week by week the change in me has been subtle and with hindsight I can see how far I have come. My goal is still in the future but now I know how to find the right path for me if I go astray, Jennie is still around if I need her help again. All of this has been achieved by talking to Jennie whose welcoming manner and gentle coaxing and incitefulness has been tremendously effective.'  (J.B. leics)
