Coaching offers a one-to-one confidential partnership giving you the opportunity to have a structured conversation designed to help you take action.

Executive Coaching: giving you time to think about and explore options and to plan actions for your business and professional goals as a leader. This may include: strategy; new opportunities; managing and developing your team; stakeholder management; personal development; understanding your leadership style; being an authentic leader; dealing with difficult conversations.

Transition Coaching: helping you step smoothly into your new role so you can be more effective more quickly. Learn what makes a successful job transition and then prioritise what you need to focus on and achieve in the first three months and commit to actions.

Career Coaching: think about your next steps and plan how to achieve them. Useful for career planning, career decisions, change of career or returning to work.

Life Coaching: time to focus on what is important to you that you want to achieve or solve; including lifestyle changes – giving you the opportunity to think about making the decisions and changes you want to, work/life balance, and taking the first steps.

Please note I do not offer coaching for situations dealing with personal relationships.

Coaching is a structured conversation focusing on you and your topic/s. It is not just a nice chat with someone – we may have a cup of tea though!

The coaching I offer is ‘non-directive’ which means that you set the agenda about what we discuss and you will come up with ideas and actions. I will prod you (not literally!) with questions, feedback and challenge to help you be clear about what you want to work towards or achieve or change. This will involve getting you to come up with ideas, giving you chance to explore your favourite ideas and (probably most importantly!) helping you to commit to an action. I won’t tell you what you should talk about, I certainly won’t tell you what to do and I won’t solve the situation for you. You do all the work! A coaching programme enables you to find your own solutions – maybe ones you didn’t even know you had inside you. You will surprise yourself! Coaching is ‘non-dependent’, it is designed to help you be the best you can be and to ‘fly’ by yourself.Coaching programmes are a series of sessions which can range from 1 hour to about 90 mins. I would suggest the following:

  • Executive coaching – up to 6 sessions over a period of 3 – 6 months

  • Transition coaching – up to 10 sessions over a period of 4 months

  • Career coaching – up to 4 sessions over a period of 2 months. Can be done in one day if necessary.

  • Life coaching – depending on what you want to discuss and any life changes you may want to make. We will discuss this at the first meeting and you can re-assess as we go along. Remember: coaching is non-directive and the aim is for you to live your life without a coach!

You can stop the coaching programme at any time for example you may feel your topic/s have been dealt with or you may feel coaching is not working for you.

First session – contracting and getting to know each other

Generally the first session is an opportunity to decide if we both think we will get on and if can work together. If either of us feels that coaching is not the right thing or that we don’t get on – you do not have to continue with the rest of the coaching programme. Typically the first sessions covers the following:

  • Agree confidentiality and what that means - this is very important.

  • Agree what ‘coaching’ is and is not.

  • A chance for you to ask questions and to outline the topic/s you want to bring to coaching.

  • Logistics – where, when and how often we will meet.

  • How we will work together.

  • How to contact each other especially if one will be late or needs to cancel a booked session.

  • Cancellation policy.

  • Depending on time – we will probably start some real coaching on your topic/s.

Second session

Life and Career Coaching:

Coaching continues focusing on your chosen topics and goals.

Executive and Transition Coaching:

Recommended / optional a three-way meeting with you, your manager and me to agree the objectives and goals for coaching and to agree what success looks like to you and your manager – it may be different!

Third and following sessions

Coaching continues focusing on your chosen topics and goals and checking progress.

Life and Career Coaching:

Coaching continues and we spend time towards the end of the session to review the topics, actions and results and identify how to continue with your new behaviours / way of life / decisions etc once the coaching ends.

Executive and Transition Coaching:

Review of the topics, actions and results leading into a recommended / optional final three way meeting with your manager.

Final Session

Identify how your development will continue once coaching ends.

Coaching helps you to find some practical actions to take to towards your goal

Price guidance – depending on location/travel costs:

Corporate clients – £100 per hour

Private clients and charities - £80 per hour

Location

We can arrange to meet in coffee shop, café of a museum or similar establishment or sometimes large hotels have suitable reception or lounge areas. I can travel to Farnborough, Aldershot, Guildford, Woking, Camberley and surrounding areas, as well as Reading and Dorking.

I am very happy to offer coaching on the telephone and have done lots of phone coaching in the past.

If you have access to a suitable room within your office for example that would be fine.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained on the internal Coach Foundation Course at the BBC which is accredited with the ICF and the EMCC. I managed the BBC Coach Network and co-delivered the course for 3 years to leaders who were training to be an executive coach.

I have been coaching since 2003 and delivered all coaching programmes offered to leaders, talent and staff at all levels. The programmes offered were: Executive, Transition and Career Coaching programmes. I designed a coaching programme for parents returning to work from maternity and paternity leave.

I have recently done some career coaching for Surrey Wildlife Trust on a volunteer basis. I have been accredited as an Executive Coach with the ICF at ACC level. I am a member of the CIPD L&D Advisory Board for Coaching and Mentoring.

Jane trained as an Executive Coach at the BBC in 2003 on a course which has been accredited by the International Coach Federation and European Mentoring and Coaching Council. She has been individually accredited by the ICF (ACC) and is a full member of the Association for Coaching. She has worked with leaders and staff at all levels across the BBC as a coach, mentor and leadership and personal development trainer. Jane has also delivered training and career coaching in the charity/voluntary sector. She is a member of the CIPD L&D Advisory Board and is working with the CIPD to design a course on How to Develop a Coaching Culture.
