Profile

My aim is  to increase emotional health and  well-being by using positive psychology to build hope, increase self-esteem, develop positive emotions, discover the feel-good factor and move on after traumatic events. I work holistically to develop personal strengths, build better relationships, clarify life-goals, find meaning in life and achieve a healthy lifestyle. I believe that physical health underpins emotional well-being - therefore I am able to offer advice on sleep-hygiene, exercise regimes and healthy eating habits.
I have many years experience in the NHS as a mental health professional which has given me a deep understanding of relevant issues. My approach includes the use of cognitive behavioural, solution focused, interpersonal , mindfulness based, problem-solving and compassion focused strategies. However above all I offer genuine warmth and empathic listening which are the foundation stones of a successful helping relationship.
I am especially interested in  improving confidence & self-esteem  and early help for emotional distress. I can also  offer practical advice on management of financial difficulties. In addition to one-to-one help I also offer small group tuition in how to attain well-being.
