With more and more employers and organisations making the decision to take their coaching in house, coupled with the rise of ‘App’ based industries (Uber, Airbnb etc.) becoming the preferred means of online purchasing. What does the external, independent coach need to do to remain competitive and stay in business?

600_460132431.jpegSarah Wallace, spent more than 10 years setting up and leading the global L&D agenda in a multinational company. She now concentrates time working as an executive coach and L&D consultant working across a variety of industries and markets as well as just recently completing her MBA.

She dedicated her thesis to exploring the future of coaching as a professional development approach, in particular, the roles played by the internal and external coach. The aim was to understand, in line with changing business needs, how their roles complement each other and differ and how they are developing. Furthermore, the report sought to clarify the services and expertise each will need to be able to provide going forwards.

During this interactive session, Sarah will discuss and explore the findings of her extensive research with the Kingston coaching group on Thursday 4th May at 19.00. The aim is to offer the internal and external coach a tool and process of how to identify what they need to build into their ongoing professional development to continue to be competitive. This can then feed into their career and self-development plans.

In advance of the session, Sarah would invite you to read and reflect on the below four questions. By spending a small amount of time on these you will come more prepared to discuss and develop on your development plan and path, rather than generalising. Sarah wants to make this session as relevant and useful to each participant!

1.  Can you describe who you are as a coach in a few sentences? Try it! What would this be?

2.  Who are your current identified client fields? How will this change in the next five years?

3.  Which areas of your development are you focusing on now? Why these areas?

4.  Where do you see yourself in five years? Will (3) aid you to get there?
