McKenna spoke to the Daily Mail newspaper about certain steps we can take on a daily basis in order to help us lead happier lives, here are some of the highlights:
Turn that frown upside down
Though you may not feel like smiling or laughing at the moment, make a point of doing it anyway and you’ll experience the same effect of feeling happy. Smiling releases the feel good hormone serotonin so be sure to laugh and smile at least 20 times each day.
Laugh to boost your immune system
Laughter has been found to boost the immune system and help rid the body of toxins, helping digestion, colds and flu so its a great excuse to get your giggle on.
Get into the habit of smiling
Everyone has a number of habits, from nail biting through to frowning. No matter what the habit, the more we repeat an action the stronger it becomes and eventually it will become regulated by our unconscious minds, meaning often we are unaware we are actually doing it. A great way of increasing happiness in our lives is to make smiling a habit, as once this is achieved you will begin noticing more happy moments in your life.
