Tips to overcome shyness

We often discuss the issue of shyness on Life coaching directory, because it is something which often ends up having a huge impact on your life.

Today we have a few tips which will help you to gently build up your confidence. You only need to take baby steps, implementing one of the below each day until you get used to integrating them all into your daily routine.

Eye contact is great for confidence. Staring straight into someones eyes may seem a little intimidating at first but it gives them the impression that you are confident. If you find it too difficult then look above the eyes! They won’t even notice and it gives the same effect until you are ready to progress to the next level.

Try initiating a conversation each day, even if it is just about the weather. Preferably try this with someone you don’t know because this will get you used to the idea of talking to new people.

Positive body language is very important. We don’t realise what a huge impact it has on ourselves and people we come into contact with. Slumping around the office with a hunch back and your head in a folder will just make you look unapproachable and lacking in confidence. Hold your head high, keep your back straight and speak clearly. You will find that looking confident only boosts your confidence in turn.
