Robert Greene is a popular author of self-help literature and his book 48 rules of power was hugely poplar, giving people practical advice on how to stay on top. After the success of this book he and lucrative gangster 50 Cent decided to put their heads together to make one great self-help book,
The 50th Law, is a manual which is essentially about power and as far as self-help books go it is surprisingly readable. It may seem like an unlikely combination for book collaboration but 50 Cent and Greene are actually well matched. 50 Cent does absolutely none of the writing and is referred to in third person throughout, but as the party who gained power often through the wrong means, it is he who now provides advice that evades cut throat methods and instead promotes ethical conduct and clean living.
As someone who has spent time in prison, been involved in gang culture and survived an assassination attempt, 50 Cent may not seem at first glance like a suitable self-help guru, but look again and he is actually the perfect example of how you can turn your life around.
The 50th Law, by 50 Cent and Robert Greene, is published by Profile Books at £15 .
