Having a life purpose could give longer life
According to an article over at the Saga website, having a positive outlook on life can make you life longer.
New research carried out in the US showed that people who set themselves goals to achieve and gave themselves purpose lived longer, rather than those who felt they’d done everything they wanted to in life, and didn’t feel the need to challenge themselves.
Psychologist and life coach Gladeana McMahon agrees: “People who experience meaning and purpose tend to be more optimistic with a younger outlook on life. This means they are probably healthier too – lower stress levels mean a better immune system and a reduced risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Goal-oriented people are also more likely to look after their health.”
