London borough use life coaches to help unemployment rates

Another London borough is offering it’s residents life coaching to help combat unemployment, reports the LocalGov website.

The area of Kensington and Chelsea has a range of income levels – whilst many household incomes are above the national average, it also includes parts that are some of the most disadvantaged areas in the UK.

The scheme will target those who are currently on benefits, in order to help meet their target of reducing the proportion of children in families receiving unemployment from 26.1% to 21.2% by 2011.

One hundred residents who are currently receiving benefits and living in social housing will be given a life coach to help them find unemployment. This will include helping them with their CVs, and recognising their skills and what kind of jobs would be appropriate for them.

This is big news. From across the pond I can tell you this would never fly here. The UK once again proves that it is years (or even decades) ahead in its thinking!

I will be sure to check back here for updates about this program.

    Cheers
