Cereal aids weight loss
The Special K Challenge a few months ago encouraged the public to eat cereal for breakfast and lunch and drop a dress size, and it seems there may be some truth behind it, reports The Telegraph.
The small study conducted of 41 overweight people by Oxford Brookes University asked participants to eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast and lunch, and whatever they want for dinner over a period of six weeks.
The study also showed that those who tried a variety of different cereals, rather than sticking to the same one, lost more weight, on average 4.4lb, compared to 1.3lb for those who only ate their favourite brand.
Nutritionist Lynne Garton said: “The results of this study are very interesting and further evidence of the benefits of breakfast cereal as part of a weight-management programme.”
